"To truly become number one you must constantly strive to pass yourself, not the competition." Marva Abel, of
Lepic Kroeger, REALTORS in Iowa City, epitomizes this quote that she carries with her. A realtor for thirty years,
Marva has built a very successful business.
Marva's career in real estate began as she was finishing her masters degree in pediatric nursing. "I was considering other career possibilities
after graduate school." After attending a seminar on career changes, her interest in working with people led her to real estate.
"I believe strongly in providing the best service possible to my clients. My background in nursing has helped immensely in understanding
people and developing critical problem-solving skills."
Marva joined Lepic Kroeger, REALTORS of Iowa
City in 1984 after working since 1979 at Scherman Richardson Realtors. She received
Realtor of the Year Award in 1998 and a Top Salesperson Award in 1993.
She has also earned a Certified Residential Specialist
degree. Fewer than 2% of all real estate agents obtain this title. It requires advanced courses in real estate, involvement in local,
state and national professional organizations and a commitment to high ethical and performance standards. "Moving can be a crisis and I
focus my efforts on matching the right house with the right people," says Marva. This sentiment is echoed by the entire staff of Lepic Kroeger.
They take great pride in working together as a team to provide each client with personalized, professional service.
When asked about future trends in real estate, Marva indicated several important trends. As the business world becomes more computer
literate, so goes the real estate industry. Viewing properties across the country is already a reality, giving home buyers anywhere in the
country access to entire listings to effectively search for a new home.
An increase in the number of singles has made condos a hot property.
Her husband, Richard Knoedel is a native of
Iowa City, daughter Sandi lives in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and son Tim and his wife Micki Gylten,
and grandsons Jack and Owen live in Coralville. Also, Marva has
